Professional career

ashley qualified as a Barrister and Solicitor and is a Tax Partner at an international law Firm, where he specialises in international tax and tax competition. He is recognized as a leader in his area of practice by Legal 500, Citywealth and Chambers Global and is a regular commentator on these areas of practice, contributing to both mainstream media and professional conferences/publications.

Politics

ashley is a long standing campaigner for the Conservative Party and fought the Falmouth and Camborne Parliamentary seat for the Conservatives in 2005. Ashley has been an advisor on tax to the Conservative Treasury Team, the Conservative front bench in the House of Lords and Head of Policy Research to the Rt Hon David Davis MP.

Ashley has campaigned both locally and nationally for the Party and commented on and featured on both the BBC, Sky news, Newsnight and ITV as well as in national press – writing and featuring in the New York Times, the International Herald Tribune, the Financial Times, Daily Telegraph, The Times, the Evening Standard and the Daily Mail.

Campaigning

Charitable work

outside Law and Politics, Ashley is committed to two charities having been a Trustee of Victim Support (helping and campaigning for victims of crime with an emphasis on Hate Crime) and also has assisted the Multiple Sclerosis society. Ashley’s family has been involved in the Multiple Sclerosis society for considerable time and his family helped establish the Helen Ley MS respite care home in Leamington, West Midlands.

Ashley also highlights one further charity called Sands. It is a charity which cares and supports couples and families coming to terms with miscarriage and stillbirth and the important care the charity can give to both parents and the wider family.
